First Fixx Review - Battery free wireless switch

Installing a light switch can sometimes be a challenge, difficult cable routes and chasing out decorated walls eats up time. We check out a new wireless switch which uses a combination of Bluetooth connectivity and EnOcean battery-free power.

Wireless light switches have been around for years, but have struggled to gain widespread adoption. Users don't like the idea of having to change batteries in the switch, and installers are often confused about the different communication protocols, wireless range and complex set up procedures.

This new product, developed by Wireless Navitas, caught our eye, it uses established protocols and promises to work out of the box with no initial set-up.

Our verdict

A very easy to use wireless switch solution which is very simple to set-up. Ideal for a wide range of applications in re-wires, modular buildings and garden lighting.

Within buildings the switch can be located up to 10 meters from the relay unit.

The units don't require an interconnected hub or smart phone apps.
