A tragic incident occurred at Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth in 2016 when a footballer died after receiving an electric shock from a floodlight mast while climbing back over a fence. An investigation later revealed the floodlight was damaged and had apparently been “repaired” using Sellotape, The operator of the pitch at the time has been charged with failing to protect the public.
