Aico's new SmartLink Gateway Ei1000G
Compliance in social and rented housing is a hot topic, especially when thinking about safety-related equipment such as smoke detectors. While regular inspection and maintenance are vital to ensure compliance, you are only as good as your last inspection visit.  A rogue tenant removing a smoke detector from its base can put multiple properties at risk.

The industry leader in fire detection with social and rented housing Aico has introduced the Ei1000G Smartlink Gateway. The Smartlink gateway collects performance data from detectors within a property. It then sends this data back to a cloud portal. Property managers can then monitor the performance of sensors across every dwelling in real-time.

We are seeing an increasing number of home-based internet of things (IoT) applications such as doorbells, thermostats and the hugely popular smart speakers. This move by Aico takes this beyond the consumer level and applies it to a critical safety application which improves productivity for the housing provider.

Smartlink removes the need for manual testing of detectors. This free's up resource to concentrate on active faults or planned maintenance activities.

Solving connectivity issues

Aico has overcome one of the biggest challenges in connecting devices to the internet the hub itself.  Rather than relying upon a tenants internet connection. The Smartlink uses the mobile phone network. This approach avoids potential reliability and network security issues, as Aico's communication is separate from the tenants.

Smartlink builds upon Aico's Audiolink technology, which records the history and performance of an individual detector.
